ABOUT WHITEPHOTO
The precision of
an engineer.
The eye of a
photographer.
WhitePhoto is Kseniia Kozulina — a product photographer based in Northamptonshire, UK, specialising in ecommerce imagery for independent and growing brands.
1
Engineering background
Mechanical engineering degree — technical understanding of light physics that most photographers never develop.
2
Portrait & fashion trained
Years of portrait and fashion photography before specialising in product — understanding of how to direct a frame, not just capture it.
3
Ecommerce-only focus
Not a generalist photographer who also does products. Every shoot, every brief, every image is built around conversion.
THE BACKGROUND
An unusual path to
exceptional images.
“Most photographers learn to see light intuitively. I learned to understand it mathematically — and that changes everything.”
My background is mechanical engineering. Before I ever picked up a camera professionally, I spent years working with systems, precision, and physics — industries including IT and people management — building an analytical way of thinking that most creatives simply don’t have.
When I discovered photography, something clicked. The physics of light — how it behaves, how it wraps around a surface, how it renders colour and texture — wasn’t intuition for me. It was something I could understand from first principles and then shape deliberately. That technical foundation sits underneath everything I do.
I spent years shooting portrait and fashion photography, developing an eye for composition, direction, and the subtle choices that make an image feel considered rather than accidental. When I moved into product photography, I brought both sides with me: the technical precision and the creative judgment.
WhitePhoto exists because I wanted to combine those two things — rigorous technical craft and genuine creative vision — in service of something commercially meaningful. For ecommerce brands, that combination is rare. And it matters every time someone decides whether to buy your product or keep scrolling.
HOW I WORK
What this means for your images.
The engineering background isn’t just an interesting story. It shapes every technical decision made on a shoot and in post-production.
Light is controlled, not hoped for
Every lighting setup is calculated — ratios, angles, and modifiers chosen deliberately for your specific product’s surface, finish, and colour. No guesswork, no “that looks about right.”
Colour accuracy is non-negotiable
A skincare product photographed with a slight colour cast misleads customers and drives returns. Colour-accurate imaging is a technical discipline — one that’s taken seriously here.
Consistency is engineered, not accidental
Every shoot is documented — settings, ratios, distances. So when you add a new product to your range six months later, it matches your existing images exactly. Your catalogue stays cohesive as you grow.
Aesthetic decisions are intentional
Years of portrait and fashion work means composition, styling, and framing choices come from trained creative judgment — not from copying what looks popular on Instagram right now.
THE SETUP
One photographer. Your direct point of contact — start to finish.
WhitePhoto is me — Kseniia. There’s no team, no account manager, no junior photographer who shows up on shoot day while someone else quoted the job. When you book, you work directly with the person who plans your shoot, holds the camera, and edits every image.
I work from a home studio in Weedon Bec, Northamptonshire, with full lighting control and the ability to handle most product categories. For projects that benefit from location or environmental context, I shoot on location across Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire and the wider UK.
For most ecommerce brands — especially those shipping products for photography — this setup is ideal. Your products arrive, they’re treated with care, photographed precisely, and returned. No unnecessary complexity.
